German automaker Opel produced the Senator from 1978 to 1993 over two styling generations. General Motors, which owned Opel from 1929 to 2017, marketed the car in Europe, Africa and Asia under various brands including Vauxhall, Chevrolet and Daewoo. The Senator was considered an Executive Car -- the European equivalent of a mid-size luxury car in the American market.
