Workers Polishing Truck Bodies at the Ford Motor Company Rouge Plant, February 3, 1945

01

Artifact Overview

Workers at Ford Motor Company built more than 77,000 cargo trucks for the Allies during World War II. When the war ended in 1945, employees returned to producing civilian vehicles. Ford's first postwar trucks -- like its cars -- used prewar styling and designs. Rubber was still in short supply, so 1945 Ford trucks came without spare tires.
