Artifact Overview

Albert I, Prince of Monaco, organized the first Monte Carlo Rally in 1911. Though its length and route changed over time, the rally usually included climbs through the wintry French Alps and a finish line in Monte Carlo. The grand event was intended to showcase improvements in automobile design and manufacture. The Monte Carlo Rally continues to run annually today.
