Anita Searl with a Bicycle, circa 1935
01
Artifact Overview
Anita Searl poses with a child's bicycle in this photograph from the 1930s. This bike probably belonged to her nephew or a male cousin. The straight, double top tubes between the handlebars and seat -- rather than a drop frame -- would have made it difficult for a woman in her skirt to mount and pedal effectively.
