Artifact Overview

John D. Rockefeller, Jr., was at first unable to accept Henry and Edsel Ford's invitation to their Light's Golden Jubilee event, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of the incandescent lamp. Edsel and his wife offered to have Rockefeller stay with them as their guest, if he could rearrange his schedule. Rockefeller could and was delighted to accept their hospitality.
