British-born Ken Miles possessed the skills of a driver and engineer. He could pilot a race car, identify problems, and recommend solutions. He joined Carroll Shelby's team in 1963, where he made vital contributions to Shelby's Cobras and Ford's GT40s. Miles won GT races at Daytona and Sebring in 1966, but was killed later that year while testing Ford's J-Car.
