Chrysler design head Virgil M. Exner was photographed with his wife and daughter as they boarded an American Airlines flight in 1956. The tailfins of a 1957 DeSoto are visible in the foreground. Tailfins were a prominent feature of Exner's "Forward Look" seen on Chrysler automobiles from 1955 to 1961.
