In 2016, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump campaigned with the slogan that he would "Make America Great Again." The phrase touched voters who believed that the country was in decline. It became so popular that President Trump's reelection campaign reused the slogan during the 2020 presidential race. Trump supporters found the phrase or its acronym (MAGA) emblazoned on a variety of campaign material.
