Biden, a longtime senator and Vice President under President Barack Obama, won the crowded Democratic primary race and then chose his one-time challenger, California Senator Kamala Harris, as his running mate. The Biden/Harris team defeated the Republican ticket of incumbent President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.
