Henry Leland and Wilfred Leland established the Lincoln Motor Company in 1917. After building airplane engines during World War I, Lincoln shifted to the production of luxury cars in 1920. The Lelands took pride in their company's harmonious atmosphere. Among other activities, Lincoln employees could participate on the automaker's baseball team.
