Belgium's D'Ieteren was founded in 1805 by expert coachbuilder Joseph-Jean D'Ieteren. With the arrival of the automobile, the company began building car bodies. D'Ieteren started a long-running business relationship with Germany's Volkswagen in 1948, and it ultimately became the exclusive distributor of Volkswagen brands in Belgium.
