Plymouth Gasoline Locomotives, Type 2, Model HL, 18-20 Ton, circa 1910
01
Artifact Overview
Plymouth industrial locomotives were designed for places like mines, mills, factories, agricultural operations, and construction sites. All early Plymouth locomotives were distinguished by their use of gasoline-fueled, internal combustion engines and mechanical drivetrains -- similar to the engines and drivetrains used in automobiles. Plymouth later added conventional diesel-electric locomotives to its product lineup.
