    Snug Suit, circa 1980

As a result of the 1970s energy crisis and rising cost of living, many Americans changed their lifestyles to save money. Some chose smaller, more fuel-efficient cars, or reduced their at-home energy consumption. Heritage Quilts, Inc. created the Snug Suit -- a quilted garment to wear indoors -- to keep people warm with their thermostats turned down.
