In 1988, the Democratic Party chose Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis as its Presidential nominee. Dukakis chose Texas Senator Lloyd Bentsen as his running mate. The Presidential ticket mirrored the one from 1960 when then Massachusetts Senator John Kennedy chose Texas Senator Lyndon Johnson. The outcomes, however, were different.
The Dukakis Bentsen ticket lost.
