Held annually since 1951, The Henry Ford's Old Car Festival brings together hundreds of vintage motor vehicles and thousands of spectators each year. Vehicles, even airplanes, were sometimes given to the museum's collection during the event. William T. Piper, founding president of Piper Aircraft Corporation, presented a 1946 Piper Cub J-3 to the institution in 1961.
