Pullman Yard Employee Button
01
Artifact Overview
Founded in 1867, the Pullman Company built and operated sleeping cars under contract with host railroads. For a century, Pullman was synonymous with first-class travel. Onboard personnel like porters and car attendants were more visible to the traveling public, but Pullman also employed tens of thousands of people who designed, built and maintained the company's cars.
