Artifact Overview

Procter & Gamble, a consumer goods company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, introduced Comet brand cleanser in 1956. Comet, first sold in a powdered form, contained abrasive and disinfecting agents, like chlorine bleach and limestone, to help clean and remove tough stains. It became a recognizable household brand cleaner. Procter & Gamble sold off the brand in 2001.
