Artifact Overview
Henry Ford commissioned Detroit architect Robert O. Derrick to design the museum building for his Edison Institute. The massive structure, with more than nine acres of exhibition space, featured multiple references to colonial architecture along its front facade. The most prominent building was Derrick's detailed replica of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
