Truth in advertising: the Simplex typewriter is very simple. This index typewriter was sold throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, sometimes as a toy and sometimes as a serious typewriter, but it was always the same product. On the Simplex, typists used a pointer to choose letters on a type wheel, and then pressed down to print.
