Motorcycle Leggings, 1915-1920

01

Artifact Overview

Riding a motorcycle put the operator's legs perilously close to hot surfaces on the engine and exhaust pipe. Leather leggings shielded from burns, and they also offered protection from scrapes and cuts in the event of a fall. This pair of leggings was used by Arthur K. Schwartzbeck of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
