Bicycle Seat, 1930-1940

01

Artifact Overview

Cyclists want a comfortable ride. This padded leather seat from the 1930s with its large springs helped cushion the pelvis and sensitive areas of the rider. It was a vast improvement from the hard metal or wooden seats attached to 19th century velocipedes.
