1909 Excelsior Autocycle
01
Artifact Overview
Excelsior Motor Manufacturing & Supply Company joined the motorcycle business in 1907. Its 1909 models featured an efficient lubrication system that, in the company's words, kept oil in the engine rather than "over the exterior of the machine and the person of the rider." The economical Autocycle could travel nearly 200 miles on a single two-gallon tankful of gasoline.
