- Standing Hair Dryer, circa 1960 - Velma Truant (1928-2021) began her hairstyling career at the Detroit Hudson's department store salon in the late 1940s. When she left Hudson's in 1963 to care for her young daughter, Truant acquired this hair dryer and a matching chair and set up a salon in the basement of her Allen Park, Michigan, home. She served clients there until the early 1980s.

Velma Truant (1928-2021) began her hairstyling career at the Detroit Hudson's department store salon in the late 1940s. When she left Hudson's in 1963 to care for her young daughter, Truant acquired this hair dryer and a matching chair and set up a salon in the basement of her Allen Park, Michigan, home. She served clients there until the early 1980s.

Over the following three and a half decades he and his collaborators designed everything from humble household goods to limited edition luxury items for clients as diverse as Steuben, Alessi, Target, J.
