Artifact Overview

This photograph shows Henry Ford's office in the Ford Engineering Laboratory in December 1949 -- two years after he died, but just as he left it. The office was mainly used to receive visitors and meet with employees.

Henry Ford and the Quadricycle at Bagley Avenue by Albert Pennoyer, 1931

Artist Albert Pennoyer showed Henry Ford pushing his Quadricycle from the shed behind his house on Detroit's Bagley Avenue. Pennoyer emphasized the little car's novelty by including a horse and buggy -- and two skeptical onlookers -- in the scene. Ford and friends built the gasoline-powered Quadricycle in that shed, and Ford first drove it on June 4, 1896.
