Benson Ford began his career at Ford Motor Company as a young man, rotating through departments to learn the business. He became a vice president of Ford Motor in 1943, and he was appointed director of its Lincoln-Mercury Division in 1948. Ford and his wife, Edith McNaughton Ford, supported numerous charitable organizations including Henry Ford Hospital and the United Way.
