Edsel Ford was photographed while fishing at Michigan's Lake Orion, about 40 miles north of Detroit, in September 1899. That same year his father, Henry Ford, formed his first car-making enterprise, Detroit Automobile Company, though the company quickly failed. Young Edsel turned six years old that November.
