The comic book character Archie Andrews first appeared in Pep Comics in 1941. The following year, the character had its own comic book series. Other series followed. Stories featured Archie, a typical American teenager, and his friends Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Reggie, trying to figure out life, relationships, and high school through simple, humorous episodes. The Laugh Comics series ran from 1946 to 1991.
