Portrait of Edsel Ford, 1928

Summary

In 1913, Henry Ford established Ford Motor Company's photographic department. Though few internal records describe company photography, the remaining images reveal a wide range of departmental activity over nearly 100 years. To create this heavily retouched portrait of Edsel Ford, staff started with a candid photograph, airbrushed the background, and used paint to change the color of his suit.
