Race Car Driver Eddie Rickenbacker, 1912-1917

Though better remembered for his aviation activities, Eddie Rickenbacker competed in auto racing from 1906 through 1916. "Fast Eddie" appeared in 42 major races, including twice in the Vanderbilt Cup and five times in the Indianapolis 500. He earned 14 podium finishes, including seven wins. Rickenbacker owned and operated Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 1927 to 1945.
