Thomas Sato on a "Vagabonds" Camping Trip, Maryland, 1921

Summary

Calling themselves the Vagabonds, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and John Burroughs embarked on numerous camping trips between 1916 and 1924. Various support staff were needed to maintain camp including Ford's personal chef and butler, Thomas Sato. Sato accompanied Mr. Ford on nearly all of his camping excursions, becoming a favorite among the other Vagabonds.
