Artifact Overview
Designed by renowned industrial architect Albert Kahn for Henry Ford's Ford Motor Company, Willow Run was built for the mass production of World War II B-24 bombers. By the end of 1944, the Ypsilanti, Michigan, factory was producing 650 B-24 Liberators every month. Willow Run closed in 1945, but only after adding 8,685 bombers to the war effort.
