The history of the Chevrolet bowtie is unclear. William Durant, a founder of Chevrolet, is said to have seen the design on a section of wallpaper while visiting Paris; or he may have seen the design in a newspaper advertisement when vacationing in Virginia. Either way, the bowtie is one of the most recognizable automobile logos.
