Ford Motor Company employees assemble Model T gas tanks at the company's Highland Park plant in this 1913 photo. The workers at right are attaching sediment bulbs -- to catch debris carried in with fuel -- to the bottoms of the tanks. The workers at left are testing tanks for leaks by filling them with compressed air while holding the tanks underwater.
