Artifact Overview
As a youth during the 1880s, Henry Ford had attended dances at the Botsford Inn, an 1836 tavern on the route from Detroit to Lansing, Michigan. After buying and restoring the building in 1924, Ford held some of his early "old-fashioned" dance parties in the inn's ballroom. This image shows the restored ballroom and the maple dance floor Ford installed there.
