Edsel Bryant Ford, the only child of Henry Ford and Clara Bryant Ford, was born November 6, 1893. Young Edsel posed for this formal studio portrait about 1896. That was an important year for the family. Edsel's father completed his first automobile, the Quadricycle, in the shed behind the family's home in Detroit that June.
