Clara and Henry Ford's Summer Home, Grosse Ile, Michigan

01

Artifact Overview

In the 1920s, Clara and Henry Ford purchased a 26-acre estate on Grosse Ile, Michigan. Located about 15 miles south of Fair Lane, their main residence in Dearborn, the Grosse Ile property was eyed as a convenient summer retreat. Although the Fords invested a considerable sum in the home, it is uncertain how often they used it.
