Artifact Overview

Henry Ford owned the 378-mile Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad from 1920-1929. His purchase included this Baldwin 4-4-0 steam locomotive built in 1897. Ford, a longtime admirer of railroads and locomotives, adopted the 1897 Baldwin as his favorite. The engine pulled Ford's special train on DT&I inspection trips, and it later found a home in his museum.
