In 1937, Lucille Oldham wrote this song about the duties of the American Automobile Association's (AAA) Safety Patrol. AAA had launched the Safety Patrol program in 1920 to protect school children from traffic dangers. School-aged patrollers, under adult supervision, wear belts and badges and continue to help their classmates make it safely to school.
