Artifact Overview

Ford Motor Company turned to industrial architect Albert Kahn to design its Willow Run bomber plant during World War II. Kahn had previously designed the automaker's Highland Park and Rouge factories. Willow Run's massive main assembly building, completed in November 1941, was more than a mile long. It was Kahn's last major project. The architect died in 1942.
