Construction of the Ford Motor Company Pavilion at the New York World's Fair, 1964

01

Artifact Overview

Ford Motor Company hired Welton Becket and Associates to design the Ford Pavilion for the 1964/65 New York World's Fair. The building was reminiscent of the original Ford Rotunda built for Chicago's Century of Progress World's Fair in the 1930s. Ford also brought in Walt Disney to create the pavilion's exhibits, including the Magic Skyway ride -- one of the fair's most popular attractions.
