Warren G. Harding Campaign Button, 1920

01

Artifact Overview

Republicans chose Warren G. Harding as their presidential nominee in 1920. The good-natured Ohioan promised Americans tired of war and its lingering effects a "return to normalcy." This refrain played well with voters. Harding and his running mate, Massachusetts governor Calvin Coolidge, won in a landslide.
