On June 1, 1909, six cars left New York City in a 4,100-mile race across the continental United States to Seattle. Entrants included two Ford Model Ts, a Stearns, an Acme, a Shawmut, and an Italia. On June 23, one of the Fords arrived in Seattle first. It was later disqualified due to repairs made en route.
