Artifact Overview

Jeep introduced the Wrangler for 1987. The all-new model replaced the long-running CJ series -- the direct descendant of the original military jeep of World War II. But there was even bigger news for Jeep that year. In August 1987, a deal was finalized for the brand's parent, American Motors Corporation, to be purchased by Chrysler Corporation.
