In Omaha, Nebraska, the American team in the 1908 New York to Paris race took on another member. Norwegian-born Hans Hansen had originally been part of the French De Dion team, but dissension led to Hansen's leaving. Intent on continuing the around-the-world trip, Hansen joined the Americans in their Thomas Flyer and completed the trip to Paris.
