Austin Curtis, Jr., a chemist, was George Washington Carver's assistant at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. He accompanied the frail Carver on his travels, including his trips to visit Henry Ford in Dearborn in 1939 and 1942. In this letter Curtis thanked Ford for his tributes to Carver after Carver's death earlier that month.
