The 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, like other world's fairs in the early 1900s, hosted a recreated Philippine village. This exhibit put native peoples on display for the entertainment of fairgoers. This staged image shows a man spearing a tire on the famous Thomas Flyer -- winner of the 1908 New York to Paris race and pathfinder for the 1909 New York to Seattle race.
