By the late 1700s, American artist John Trumbull was well-traveled and had friends and political contacts scattered throughout England and continental Europe. In this letter, Trumbull informed his friend Mr. Hopkins that he had written him a letter of introduction to an acquaintance in Ireland. He hoped this connection would prove useful and wished Hopkins a "very pleasant Tour."
