Tether cars, gas-powered model race cars, peaked in popularity in the years surrounding World War II. They were raced individually while tethered to a central pivot, or against each other on a scaled-down track. Not all tether cars were modeled after race cars. This one, from the All American Company of Los Angeles, resembles a Ford Model A "highboy" fenderless hot rod.
