Jack. L Maddux owned a Lincoln dealership in Los Angeles when Ford Motor Company established its aviation division. Impressed with Ford's Tri-Motor airplane, Maddux formed Maddux Air Lines in 1927 and operated regular flights in California, Arizona, and Mexico. Given its location, the airline's customers included Hollywood studios. Maddux Air Lines merged with Transcontinental Air Transport in 1929.
