Letter from A. J. Lepine (for Edsel Ford) to Homer Grafton regarding University of Michigan Fresh Air Camps, October 11, 1928

01

Artifact Overview

The Fresh Air Camp was founded in 1921 to provide a place for underprivileged boys to experience the outdoors. Members of the University of Michigan Student Christian Association established the camp with the support of benefactors, like Eleanor and Edsel Ford. In 1928, organization leaders recognized the couple's generosity with a plan to name two new lodges--one for Edsel, the other for "Tau Beta," another of Eleanor's charities.
